Intensive Italian & Culinary Arts
INTENSIVE ITALIAN FOOD CULTURE AND SOCIETY
This program consists of three intensive weeks of language study and daily culinary arts courses and includes the following:
36 classroom hours of language instruction.
9 hours of required lectures on Italian culture, history and current events, cinema, etc.
9 hours of required time in the Italian language and media laboratory.
Nine 3-hour cooking classes (three classes per week)
Three 1-hour wine classes*
Opportunity to participate in over 36 hours of cultural and sporting activities. (link student services)
One 2-hour cooking/language lab
All required textbooks and materials for the successful completion of the course. (Textbooks and dictionary) to be returned at the end of term.
Volunteer opportunities – up to 20 hours per week**.
Gym membership for the duration of the course.
Option to receive US university credit.
* All food and wine courses are held in English except the 2-hour language a cooking class.
The course meets at the following days at the following times:
Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 11:30 (12 contact hours per week)
Mondays 12:00 – 14:30 (weekly) Contemporary Italy lecture series
Tuesdays 12:00 - 14:30 (weekly) Italian Cinema
The first Thursday of the session 18:00 PM - 20:00 - one 2-hour cooking and language class.
Students are expected to complete at least three hours per week in the language lab.
Application fee and tuition:
Tuition: € 1.300.00
Tuition, housing (shared rooms), meal plan of 15 vouchers at Ganzo Acli*:
€ 2000.00, add € 200.00 for a single room
Meal Plan at Ganzo Cultural and Gastronomic Association. Students will be given a total of 15 meal vouchers that can be used for lunch or dinner. Students may purchase additional vouchers.
Please Note: If a student enrolls in multiple sessions they only pay the tuition portion of
€ 1200.00. The application fee is a one-time payment.
** in order to participate in volunteer and community service projects students must have a student visa or be eligible to work in the European Union. If you are in doubt about your status, please contact us.
